Describe the bug

massive screen tearing within games, videos, discord videos, YouTube videos etc.

after uninstalling virtual display driver and disabling the display driver in device manager, the issue is gone

Steps to reproduce

install virtual display.
notice how screen tearing across applications, and videos has increased

no screen tearing

I am experiencing the same problem. When I increase the refresh rate of the virtual screen from 60 hz to 244 hz it seems to reduce the tearing significantly. I also enabled SDR 10Bit+ and HDR+ and hardware cursor, this allowed me to align these settings with the VDD display device, OBS and the device I was showing it on.

In my case I am using OBS to capture VDD screen, then applying flip horizontal so that I can use a normal portable monitor for a prompter.

VDD Settings

SDR 10 Bit+: enabled
HDR+: enabled
Hardware cursor: enabled

Windows Settings

HDR: enabled <-- match output monitor
Display resolution: 3840x2160 <-- match output monitor
Scale: 350% <-- match output monitor
Display orientation: Landscape <-- match output monitor
Advanced Disaply >> Choose Refresh Rate: 244 Hz

OBS Settings

Properties for VDD by MTT: 3840x2160

Capture Method: DXGI Desktop Duplication
Dispaly by MTT: 3840x2160
Capture Cursor: enabled
Force SDR: disabled

Transform

Rotate 180 degrees <-- Seems to work better when OBS does this vs windows screen display settings
Flip Horizontal <--- So you can read text on prompter, whats missing from windows screen display settings
