Guides out of date and not drawable to top

There are several issues with the guides compared to the previous version:

1. Guides are missing in some instruments
2. Guides are newly implemented but out of date, e.g. the connection maps
3. It should be possible to open a guide and draw it all the way to the top.

I’d like to pick up some of the issues related to the guides at least for a few screens to start with.

I also had one question regarding the guide connection PNGs:
Most of these are currently <100 KB, and the quality is noticeably low in some cases even without zooming in. While working on the GSoC project, I noticed this quite a bit. I think it would be better if we created new PNGs with higher quality (e.g., around 120–250 KB) so the guides look sharper. I can take care of creating these new PNGs.
