We are planning to use Livecodes on the Hungarian National Public Education Portal (NKP.hu), specifically embedded into our official state-issued "Digital Culture" (Computer Science / ICT) textbooks. We have previously relied on Replit and then started migrating to Trinket.io, but now with Trinket shutting down this August, we are looking for a stable (and preferably self-hosted...) alternative. Our target group is upper elementary school children (ages 10-14). At this age, their English skills are not advanced enough to navigate a coding environment in English, making a native UI essential. Please add Hungarian to your language options so that I can start working on the translation on Lokalise.

We generally do not run npm on these servers, we have no write access to the directory, and the environment is highly sandboxed.

• The Challenge: LiveCodes dynamically fetches components (like Monaco/CodeMirror, WASM files for languages, etc.). I can potentially solve this by patching the files to read from a local source, but is there a cleaner, built-in solution to fully bundle everything for a completely self-contained deployment (without external requests) that I might have missed?

• "Safe Haven" / External Links: Our target audience spans ages 10 to 18 (5th to 12th grade). For the younger students, the NKP portal aims to serve as a "safe haven," and for the older ones preparing for graduation exams, a distraction-free environment. (This same policy also prevents us from using standard YouTube embeds, where unpredictable ads and end-screen recommendations can easily derail a lesson.) Therefore, we are strongly advised against having UI elements that link out to external websites (like the clickable "Edit on LiveCodes" logo), as it takes students out of the focused portal (where we use the simple Lite mode) and into a much more complex environment. Question: We want to fully respect your work and visibility; is there a built-in configuration to disable the hyperlink part of the logo/attribution? We would love to keep a visible, plain-text "Powered by LiveCodes" or a non-clickable logo directly in the UI so we don't hide your credit, we just would rather not have it act as a gateway to the outside web.

3. Use Cases & Languages

• Current needs: Simple Python and C# snippets found in our textbooks. The outputs are mostly console-based (geared towards graduation exam preparation). We plan to heavily utilize the Lite mode to keep the interface simple and prevent cognitive overload for the kids.

4. Sponsorship & Support I completely understand the need for support. As a technical assistant bridging content developers and portal engineers, my personal budget is limited, but I will gladly contribute what I can personally. Hungary recently went through the 2026 elections, resulting in a change of government and a complete paradigm shift in educational administration (under the new minister, Judit Lannert). We are transitioning from a highly centralized system to one focusing on autonomy and modern pedagogy. We are highly optimistic that this new direction will eventually bring better financial backing for modern educational tools like yours, but the administrative transition will take some time.

Yes, please, if you are comfortable with Lokalise UI. I have created a new branch: Hungarian. Kindly make your edits there so that I can merge them when ready.
Otherwise, if you think the edits are minimal and you want to do that offline, you may edit the translated files and send them and I can add the changes myself.

Yes, but not yet ready. I have been working on a fully local setup (using Docker) in this PR. It still needs some work. I have been busy working on another major update here for multifile support which currently has higher priority. Maybe after that I can continue work on local modules. Does that address your needs?

Meanwhile please note:

• regarding security: all external depenencies have pinned versions. If you use a self-hosted LiveCodes version or a permanent URL, you already have pinned versions.
• regarding stability:
  • for LiveCodes: you can use self-hosting
  • for CDNs: when LiveCodes loads, it checks CDN availability one by one, and will use the first one that responds. We have seen CDN outages before!

Yes, I can add a configuration option that disables the link in logo. I have added an issue to track that here #985

I suggest using simple mode instead. It supports using the console and choosing a better code editor which can improve the learing experience for students.
