Don't lose line position when rotate screen

So I'm halfway down a 13,000 line text file I'm reviewing and rotate the screen from vertical to horizontal to view a long line without the distracting word wrap. The display jumps to the beginning of the file, losing my position.

Can't the line number be remembered and restored on a screen rotate?
