Safari Technology Preview 206 contains the commit range 284050@main…284743@main. https://commits.webkit.org/284685@main was "[iOS] Improve support for <input type="file" webkitdirectory>". I don't have a device capable of testing that, but it may indicate support for this attribute.

Someone with the iOS beta told me that this does not appear to be fixed in 18.2 beta. I don't know when the code changes from Safari Technology Preview 206 will reach iOS, but whenever they do, that may fix this issue.

This may be supported in Safari's 18.3 iOS beta, but I don't have access to it to check if selecting a directory on https://codepen.io/danieljacobs/pen/VwodKYg works there.

That includes some newer commits than the one from WebKit/WebKit#34675, based on checking https://developer.apple.com/documentation/safari-release-notes/safari-18_3-release-notes and searching for the relevant bugs associated with some of those changes and checking the PR/commit that fixed those bugs. For example, WebKit/WebKit#35130 "Fixed the ::view-transition pseudo-element to create a stacking context." and that was merged 10 days later than the webkitdirectory fix.
