WASM Rust Support

Is any WASM support being considered? It would be great to have the possibility of this kind of database synchronization.

PowerSync currently has web support on the JS and Dart SDKs. I know that there's interest in using Rust, Kotlin or C#-based apps on the web, and we don't currently support that.

Using SQLite on the web is still pretty hard. We use wa-sqlite on our JS SDK and a similar package for Dart, and that requires a fair bit of code on our end to manage web workers and all that. We also have to prevent multiple tabs from racing on the database connection and to ensure everything keeps working if multiple tabs try to connect to the sync service.

Unless the demand is huge, I don't think we would replicate that effort for additional SDKs. Something I could see happening potentially is that we might ship a single worker JS file for PowerSync that contains most of this logic and could be embedded into multiple of our SDKs with little effort. That would make web/WASM support viable for more SDKs. But this is mostly a thought experiment for now, not something that we're actively considering.
