Apple Books opens, is briefly interactive for half a second, then loses focus back to the previously focused app every launch/switch. Apple Books never quits, but it is functionally impossible to interact with the app as a result. Fully uninstalling Rectangle (with AppCleaner) and revoking its Privacy & Security > Accessibility permission and removing it as a Login Item resolved it. This issue only occurred with Apple Books, and persisted for a few weeks.
Troubleshooting steps that did not fix it (conducted in this order):
- Clearing caches and restarting iBooks
- Turning off Rectangle
- Restarting Mac
- Updating Rectangle from whichever version it was on ~two years ago to 0.98
- Updating Mac from 15.7.1 to 15.7.9
macOS version: 15.7.1 / 15.7.9
Hardware: Macbook Pro 2021
Rectangle version: 0.9? / 0.98
Logs: rectangle_logs.txt
Logs pulled with log show --predicate 'process == "Rectangle" OR subsystem CONTAINS "knollsoft"' --last 7d since the Rectangle logs were empty after complete uninstall
