Started happening today all of a sudden. No matter which of the gemmas i choose in WritingTools, i always get this error.

I already tried getting and using a new Key, but am still having the same problem.

gamma 3 is deprecated by google, they insist to use newer model. last deadline was 30 April however model seemed to worked till yesterday.

also using gamma 4 model, it dosnt work correctly either

if any of yall can volunteer to make a PR, that'd be great -- because i'm quite busy for a few days.

interesting to see copilot try the fix. didn't do a perfect job (need to manually research the gemma 4 models' rate limits first).

I made changes to the new Google GenAI API, but the Gamma 4 model seems to take 30 seconds to respond because of the reasoning or probably API cultpit. Not sure of any workaround yet.

i added support for Gemma 4, but rn it's really slow on google's end -- at least with the free api. this might improve in the future.

so i default to gemini-flash-lite-latest, which is a great option! :)
and this will be up to date with no changes to the app; it'll always use the latest gemini flash lite model!
