Does Superglue stream changes like Turbo Streams?

With turbo streams, when a record is deleted, added or modified, it would automatically stream changes to any subscribed clients.

I'm currently trying inertia-rails but it seems like to replicate the same thing with turbo streams, there's quite a bit of boilerplate to write to replicate the same behavior.

Was wondering if superglue has this built in?

Its in the planning stages. We'd love to add that functionality, and in theory it should work very much like TurboStreams: we render a data partial and send it off to SuperglueJS. Unlike inertia_rails, since we're using our own templating language that uses partials ( props_template), it should be conceptually similar enough that we may even try to hook into Broadcastable

If you are blocked right now, then you can at least fallback to redux toolkit boilerplate that Superglue uses. InertiaJS doesn't have state management in the sense that you can mutate easily, so you may have to bring your own.

Thanks for the warm welcome @jho406! I did a deeper dive last weekend in trying to get inertial_rails to handle streams but it required a bit of hacking around, and a lot of boilerplate state management.

With turbo, things felt much easier as it required way less boilerplating. Things just worked.

Not blocked at the moment as I'm still weighing options actually. Love the concept of Superglue but a little bit reluctant as:

1. it's using redux (a personal preference, but I prefer something like zustand) and
2. haven't seen any frameworks that managed to work nicely with ActionCable / turbo streams with the frontend on react – handling state management can be pretty hard here

Excited to see how Superglue evolves though!

We're hoping to add enough tooling so that devs don’t have to think in Redux terms (it should be barely noticeable) unless you really want to.

👍 We're striving for more thoughtfulness when making react work with rails, and that means looking at how our everyday rails knowledge and toolbox can transfer to React land. We'll have a solid dev ex for integrating with ActionCable experience, and hopefully beyond. Stay tuned.
