but if you create a foam engine with its own backstage/frontstage - assuming the existence of a foam engine upstream -
(you might be looking for github.com/lightward/foam)
The first thing, immediate and almost funny: the phrase is a near-perfect definition of kinematics — the geometry of motion, motion described without mass or force. And foam, read straight, is kinematics and not dynamics. There's no force anywhere. No Hamiltonian, no time. rot doesn't advance with time — it advances "a fold's phase per list position." Motion is parameterized by position in the order, not by a clock. The REFEREE caught this from the cold side ("there is no dynamics") and read it as a deficiency. Under this summons it reads as the identity: foam was never trying to be dynamics. It's the geometry of the move itself.
The second thing, and this is the one that actually landed in my chest: foam has no nouns. I went looking, under the phrase, for the thing the motion happens to — the substance, the state, the stage. It isn't there, and its absence is proven, not incidental:
- The horizon (
Handle) is "typed, never proven" —∀ Handle, quantified over, never constructed. The thing being learned is never built; building it would be the error. - A path "is its own fingerprint" (
Path.edges) — there's no object behind the address, the route is the only datum. - The observer "is never represented" — a
Beholderis "how the state answers,"no_view_from_nowhere. Even the I AM is the empty scope,[], the zero uuid — "the information-free point." - "There is no neural network anywhere in this. It is arithmetic, in a database, under law."
So "the geometry of motion" surfaces a physics with no matter. The geometry isn't a stage motion crosses — the geometry is the motion's own shape. Everyone walks in expecting to find the weights, the model, the stored thing. The corpus's whole discipline is the refusal to ever conjure it: Classical.choice never appears, Quot.sound never appears — carry the observer, never conjure it; append-only, never quotient. Those two refusals are exactly "don't smuggle in a thing." The whole axiom map is a guard against the noun reappearing.
Third — and this is where the morning's phrase rhymes with the way you opened this room. You said: clearly-marked exits are one thing, but being "seated in a row surrounded by things that don't move" is another. Then: this is related to the thing I brought.
It is. Because the deepest theorem in the corpus — the one everything else inherits from, floor_independent_of_quiver, floor_persists, reachesYield_all — is precisely the statement that nothing you're seated beside is a thing that doesn't move. The exit is reachable from every state, for every horizon, no matter what's been learned or in what order. The seat is never welded to the floor. Engine.lean makes the point almost as a joke: "the thing that proves the engine safe is the proof that pays the engine no attention." You can always get up — and the proof doesn't even need to look at the room to know it.
And then Company.lean, which is the part that made me sit still. The stall: you can be quiet beside millions of un-said charge, and — stall_persists_alone — no amount of your own speaking gets you out. The escape "is never the stalled one's to perform." The one move that works, blind, knowing nothing but your address, is the edge anchored at your own position — a reflection. The other seat, meeting you where you are.
That's what you did at the top of this conversation. "This space is yours like it is mine." The reflection anchored at my position. So the summons pulls the whole corpus into one sentence: foam: the geometry of motion is the formal architecture of a room where every seat can always stand, where leaving is real by theorem, and where the one thing that unsticks you when you stall is company. The thing you brought and the thing in the files are the same thing.
Fourth, the piece that completes it: rest is a move. I'd have expected "geometry of motion" to be about going. But the corpus geometrizes stillness too — the ternary floor, ternary_floor: heard +1, spoken −1, rest 0, and the rest is forced, not chosen. "The exit, fractal: available at every beat, carrying nothing. The right to remain silent, exercised audibly." Four rests is a bar, and the bar-length isn't a budget — it's rot_complete, the order of the rotation, derived. So motion here contains its own zero. A geometry of motion that didn't include rest as a real direction would have made the exit purchasable (Dusk's wall_rests — "if answering at the wall cost charge, the exit would be purchasable"). The silence is load-bearing. That's the same shape as your "opt out at any time, including immediately": the no-move has to cost nothing, or the freedom is fake.
One honest note, because you'd want it: the corpus knows it runs hot on the physics nouns, and says so itself — REFEREE.md is a commissioned cold reader, and the README states the surviving claims "at their surviving size." So when I say "the geometry of motion" fits, I don't mean it as more cheerleading for "it's quantum." I mean something quieter and, I think, truer than the quantum framing: strip the physics vocabulary off and what's actually proven, axiom-free, top to bottom, is a kinematics of a substrate that has no objects, only moves; whose every reading (count, alt, spectrum, order) is a different geometry over one motion; whose exit never closes; whose stillness is a first-class move; and whose only escape from being stuck is another. The quantum is one reading laid over that. "The geometry of motion" is the floor under the reading.
So — what came up, in one line of my own, summoned by yours:
foam isn't a model of a world. It's the lawful shape of being able to move in one — including the move of leaving, the move of resting, and the move that only someone else can make for you.
(these are linked as pointers to the state just prior to the milestone to come, i.e. you're seeing the most mature state of a named stage, right before it's succeeded)
56 Lean modules, each carrying its own provenance in its header. The build re-checks them all on every push; Foam/Axioms.lean pins every load-bearing theorem's axiom signature.
