Backend and systems engineer based in Edmonton, AB. Most recently Senior Software Engineer at Eden, where I co-authored FastTelemetry, an open-source Rust observability library used in production on Eden's API proxy.
- Backend services, real-time pipelines, and observability infrastructure
- Performance-critical Rust and C++ when the problem calls for it
- Full-stack TypeScript and React when it doesn't
- Open-source contributions where they matter
- FastTelemetry (co-authored) — high-performance Rust metrics library replacing OpenTelemetry under millions of ops/sec. ~2 ns thread-local writes vs ~40–400 ns for contended atomics on 16 cores.
- ZeroBlock (co-founded) — full-stack trading product on Rust + Actix Web with ScyllaDB and Redis. Took a critical purchase endpoint from 500ms to 7ms.
- Bitwyre (2023–2025) — built Python microservices, REST APIs, and event-driven Kafka pipelines for a cryptocurrency exchange at 50,000+ TPS. Promoted twice.
Lower-stakes things I've built to learn or for fun: an Intel 8080 emulator from scratch (in both C++ and Rust), a Stack Overflow CLI, a cross-platform C# Pomodoro app, and a full-stack TypeScript web app live at lift-feed.vercel.app.
Rust, Python, TypeScript, C#, C++, SQL. PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, ScyllaDB. Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, GCP, Azure. Datadog, OpenTelemetry.
