Summary

  • Adds a new post (_posts/2026-04-23-catholic-digital-commons-foundation.md) announcing the Catholic Digital Commons Foundation.
  • Covers the origin story (Pope Leo XIV's election), CDCF's role as a bridge to Church institutions, a CTA inviting community project submissions, and two paths for joining the Catholic Devs Slack.

⚠️ Do not merge yet

The deploy workflow is currently broken on master. This PR should not be merged until:

Once those land, I'll rebase this branch and we can merge.

Connects the history of the opensourcecatholic community to the
newly established CDCF (filed 2026-01-21 with the Texas Secretary
of State) and appeals to Catholic developers to get involved.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.7 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
Link both the CDCF community page and the Open Source Catholic
chat page (which has a "Get My Invite" button) wherever the
slack is mentioned.

Drop the meta-sentence about intent and let the announcement flow
directly into the explanation of what the CDCF is and is not.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.7 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
Invite readers to refer Catholic software projects to the CDCF
Community Projects page, highlighting the foundation's ability to
pool resources and give visibility to work that individual
contributors cannot on their own.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.7 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
Describe the foundation's role in connecting Catholic developers
with dioceses, episcopal conferences, and other Church offices
responsible for governing Catholic data, framed in the spirit of
a synodal Church attentive to the digital realm's evangelizing
potential while safeguarding human dignity and fostering
solidarity and subsidiarity among local communities.

Is the build working enough to consider posting this now?

Yep, build should be good. No blockers to merging.

I believe a merge will immediately trigger a build/deploy via GitHub actions to publish the post; if it doesn't I'll fix it so it gets published.

Test Build is succeeding! I also took into consideration @mkasberg 's observations. As for me it's good to go!

should the Dart Sass fixes land first?

Sass doesn't need to land first; it's just deprecation warnings. I'll merge this now! Appreciate your work!
