I'm an academic, I advocate for the significance of research on 'learning and technologies' in thinking about and tackling issues across a range of contexts, including formal education.
I've taught information and data literacy and critical thinking subjects.
My repos here are a combination of:
- Open educational resources;
- Forks, often for running for some specific purpose (i.e., they're not generally very interesting);
- R packages or (euphemistically?) proto-packages relating to my work.
- Background: Researcher with background in psychology, philosophy, and education (particularly educational technologies), and issues relating to open knowledge (including open-source).
- Current Focus: Participatory AI governance, and the potential of learning about and with algorithms.
- 🛠️ Languages: R, (although I sometimes use Python, and have used a range of languages in static site builders).
- CREDS research group website
- DSI-collection: Uses the collection builder statisc site system to accept google for inputs and then present them in a 'gallery' static site, see also https://github.com/sjgknight/DSI_collection_sheets, and kb viewable live
- ethics-guidelines: static site initially used to display ethics guidelines, using tonic system here, viewable live
- Noisy sheets: Noisy sheets is an add-on that works in google spreadsheets, which allows users to: add noise to a dataset; share the unique datasets with a student cohort; and calculate function results for the students' versions of the data.
- Writing Analytics 'data carpentry' materials
- FlipAround book: This is a living document collaboratively authored by students in the Master of Data Science and Innovation course at the University of Technology Sydney
- Data Science for Innovation - various subject materials
- learnr quizzes for data science for innovation: various 'learnr' interactive quizzes both original or/and forked from open-licensed materials
- DSI templates: Template Rmd documents for students in DSI to develop their assignment with
- tradeoffs: Start of building a boardgame structure around idea of 'tradeoffs' for use in AI ethics work
- BoxPlotR - a fork of an app for creating box plots in Shiny with R: modified to add additional statistical information, for use in my teaching
- rureporting: an r package for creating a report from multiple documents as both compiled PDF and bs4 website with doc-embeds
- rureporting-eg an example repo of output from ru-reporting, viewable via live site
- yamlupdater some R scripts (not properly packaged) for updating yaml headers from user inputs
- ericr: R package to connect to ERIC API (likely defunct)
- proceedings_processR: R scripts for processing materials to collate a conference proceedings for Springer...hell
- DELR - Design Evidence Living Review: Preliminary scripts for a novel for of evidence synthesis approach
- semantra: Fork of semantra, a tool for semantic search over document collections
- monkeyprocessR: A set of scripts, with heavy support from stackoverflow and chatgpt, to process likert-style questions from surveymonkey into attractive stacked bar.
- projectR: Custom R package for automating R project creation using a template. Combines Value of Usethis and Similar Packages for useful Default Project Structure
- EA_scrapeR: Scripts to search the Fair Work enterprise agreement database and obtain agreements for analysis
- catalogueR: Proto R package, takes Zotero Data, outputs structured overviews of that data, such that Zotero can be used as a very cludgy tool for evidence synthesis procedures
- vignette_buildeR: R package to help you build factorial vignettes.
- Bibliometric analysis for a research group: Some scripts for bibliometric analysis (for CREDS, but modifiable for other groups).
- genAIInquiry: Dataset and code accompanying: Knight, S., Dickson-Deane, C., Heggart, K., Kitto, K., Çetindamar Kozanoğlu, D., Maher, D., Narayan, B., & Zarrabi, F. (2024). Generative AI in the Australian Education System: An Open Dataset of Stakeholder Recommendations and Emerging Analysis from a Public Inquiry. Australasian Journal of Educational Technology (AJET). 2023.
- CV (might be private): Scripts for creating a feature rich CV
- obsidian slides: fork of obsidian-advanced-slides for some custom features
Thanks for stopping by!
