in addition to the version bump, what would be required to change the package name from mangowc to mangowm to match the upstream package? I understand the change in the template, however, to allow for a smooth upgrade path for users, if that's even possible.

Corrected. I mistakenly placed it in both templates. Also, I searched and didn't see #61453, seems I've duplicated efforts. Should this PR be closed and stick to that one?

Well, both PRs are incomplete and not ready to be merged
(Also regarding cmake, scenefx uses the meson build system, as well)

that was also a carry over from building locally from the git clone of the project. removed.
